Canvas Views

There are standard page views that all mobile apps use to create a consistent user experience.  In the MobileSmith platform, we have defined certain rules around these page views.  Below is a list of all the page views you'll use while creating AppBlocks and Apps.

List View

The List view will display a scrollable list of items/records.  You will use the top row as the canvas area for placing images, data, and labels - all other rows will conform to that layout/design.  When the app user taps a row, it will take him to the next page, which is often a Detail view.

Detail View

The Detail view is a full page that will automatically scroll.  The Detail page will show one item/record at time, typically selected from a list view.

Input View

The Input view allows you to create a form.  You can place text boxes, text areas, dropdown menus, etc. on the canvas to design the form.

Empty List View

The Empty List View displays if there are no published or active records for a List view.  You can add Images and Text Labels, but there are no data fields.

Menu List View

The Menu List View has multiple rows like a List View, but each row is configured separately and each row can point to a different AppBlock.

Item Select View

The Item Select View is only available in a User Selects Items Flex AppBlock.

Instructions View

The Instructions View is used in both Global Instructions and AppBlock-specific Instructions.

Map View

Folders View

The Folders View is used in a Flex AppBlock that uses folders as navigation.

Carousel View

The Carousel View is used in a Flex AppBlock that you have set as the target of a Carousel Special Feature.  You can create a dynamically changing section on the Home page, similar to a banner ad slider on a website.

Empty Carousel View

The Empty Carousel View is used in a Flex AppBlock that you have set as the target of a Carousel Special Feature.  It is displayed when the targeted list has no active items.
