Build (noun) - the app build itself; resulting in an email with a link to download an app.  Example: "Can you send me the latest build of the app?"

 

Build (verb) - the act of clicking "Send Test App" or "Build for Distribution" in the Platform to have an app built.  Example: "Will you build a new version and send it to me?"


AppBlock - a feature offered by the MobileSmith platform.  Your app can have as many /wiki/spaces/MP/pages/13009114 as you want.


Canvas - an area in the Mobilesmith platform where you can design the look and feel of an app page.


Prototype - the result of clicking "Send Test App" in the Platform.  An app that is not for production distribution.


Live App - the result of clicking "Build for Distribution" in the Platform.  An app the is for production distribution to the app stores or as an enterprise/internal app.

 

Submission - sending your app to one of the major app stores.


Re-submit - sending an updated version of your app to one of the major app stores.  Sometimes this is necessary to add new features to your app.

Enterprise App


Kill the App - completely stop the app from running.  On most mobile devices, you can exit an app but it will still be running "in the background".  To kill an app is to stop it from running in the background.

iPhone:

  1. Double-click the Home button to bring up the fast app switcher.
  2. Swipe to the app you want to kill.
  3. Touch the app card and flick it up and off the screen.

Android:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Go to "Apps".
  3. Find the app you want to kill and tap it.
  4. Tap the "Force stop" button.


 

End-user - a person using your app on his/her mobile device


Platform User - a person using the MobileSmith platform to create an app
