Folders View

Folders View is used in the Flex AppBlock and the Photo Gallery AppBlock.

On the Configuration page of your AppBlock, on the Global tab, the first question is:

Should items be organized within a set of folders?

You must answer "Yes" to this question for your app to use folders.  Remember to click the green "Save Global Configuration" button.

Be sure to go to the Folders tab and select your "root" folder.

The Folders View canvas is similar to a List View canvas:

  • There are multiple rows.
  • You can only design the first row, and the other rows follow the same layout.
  • You can set the Row Background Color and the Alternate Row Background Color.
  • You can add Generic Tools (Text Label and Image).

The Folders View canvas also differs from a List View canvas:

  • You cannot add a header/footer.
  • There are no content fields to add.
  • There are no action buttons to add.
  • There is a field "Folder Name" on the canvas by default which cannot be deleted.

On a device, when the app user navigates to an AppBlock that uses folders, the app will show Folders View first.  When the user taps a folder, it will go to either another Folders View (showing children folders of the tapped folder) or to a List View (showing items assigned to the tapped folder).
